Investment firm, formerly known as Sachs Capital, recognized for commitment to founders and their companies.
Potomac, Maryland – October 11, 2022 – Mauloa, the private investment firm built for business owners, announced today that it has been named to Inc.’s annual list of founder-friendly investors. For its list, Inc. examines the success of portfolio companies, interviews entrepreneurs and develops a proprietary score that identifies the investment firms whose missions most significantly support founders and their companies.
“We can’t think of a better affirmation of the Mauloa philosophy than to be named to Inc.’s Founder-Friendly Investor list,” said Andrew Sachs, Mauloa’s CEO. “We’re built around the premise that nobody knows a company’s business like its founders, and that providing founders with resources and expertise while letting them keep control of their company and their destiny is the best way to unlock value.”
Mauloa is the new name of Sachs Capital, which has backed more than 20 founder-led, family-owned and owner-managed companies in a range of industries since its inception in 2007. Mauloa only makes minority investments, and does so without any exit timetable. This means that founders stay in control and the timing of any exit or subsequent financing is based on what’s best for the company.
“One of the big internal inconsistencies of traditional private investment model is entering the investment with a preconceived idea of when you are going to exit,” says Tyler Weinberg, Mauloa’s Chief Investment Officer. “That focuses everyone on meeting short-term benchmarks rather than growing the business for the long term. Mauloa does away with that conflict by providing companies with patient, long-term capital.”
Mauloa is led by a management team of senior-level executives with extensive experience in investing in, operating and growing businesses. The management team is chaired by Louis Mayberg, who co-founded ProShares, which he built into one of the country’s leading issuers of exchange-traded funds. The companies in which Mauloa invests are also supported by the Mauloa Advisory Board, whose members provide a wealth of operational and functional expertise.
